Description: This redbud is a hybrid between the ‘Forest Pansy’ redbud and the Texas redbud. These two trees combined make a tree with beautiful deep red (merlot) covered leaves extremely drought tolerant. This makes this tree an excellent choice for drier hotter areas that need a tree, this tree would do just fine next to concrete and asphalt. Just as with the eastern redbud this tree will also flower prolifically in the springtime with beautiful neon pink blossoms that will self-clean and produce very little pods for property owners to clean up afterwards. This tree is more upright growth habit than horizontal growth.
Growing Considerations: Can grow in a variety of soil types and is very drought tolerant. This is an excellent tree for small yards and obscure small places that need shade. It can also grow well in partial shade environments as well, such as under the shade of another tree or between two structures. This particular variety of redbud is tougher than most and so it will likely grow wherever you put it in the ground.
Mono-culture Risk: Low
Invasive Risk: None
