Description: The red maple is an easy choice for most any yard. The tree is best known for it’s stunning intense red color in the fall and it’s usually the first tree to bloom in the spring with deep red flower poofs, bees foraging for an early spring food source especially love red maples. The young stems of this tree are usually tinged red in the winter as well and it has a smooth gray trunk that appears almost ceramic. It’s a tree you can’t go wrong with if you’re not sure exactly what kind of tree to get, you can’t really go wrong with a red maple for your selection.

Growing Considerations: This is a fairly tough tree. It likes most any soil type. It prefers a more wet soil year-round but can withstand a periods of dryness once established. Best planted in the yard and not next to concrete or asphalt because the roots are shallow and may buckle if planted too close to roads, sidewalks or driveways.
