Description: The Yoshino Cherry is a symbol for life’s fleetingness. Its burst of light pink flower blossoms beckon springtime in Nashville. This small tree is an excellent choice for spaces not big enough for a large tree but just big enough for something that can fill a space with dense shade in the summertime and create a stunning show in the springtime. This tree is world famous, it is the same tree that fills the parks of Washington D.C. with blossoms in the spring and it is the same tree whose beauty in bloom inspired the city of Nashville to rise up in protest against their removal in the spring of 2019’s NFL Draft event.
Special Growing Considerations: The Yoshino cherry’s flowers may be delicate but this tree is a relatively easy to grow tree. It can grow in a wide variety of soil types, doesn’t mind city heat or pollution, and it is drought tolerant.

Invasive Risk: None
